Eye floaters – Diagnosis and treatment Bhopal
Floaters are commonly seen in elderly age and sometimes even among young people. They are caused by degeneration of vitreous (a jelly like substance between the lens and retina of the eye).
They appear as black spots or lines in the field of vision and move along with eye movements.
In most cases they are benign or physiological and no treatment is indicated.
But if there is a sudden increase in their number or if they are associated with flashes of light there may be some underlying retinal pathology like a break.
In such situations urgent retinal examination by an ophthalmologist is necessary.
